Campo de Criptana was home to the largest concentration of windmills in Castilla La Mancha throughout the Early Modern period. The ruins of many of them are visible. During the second half of 2022, the Campo de Criptana City Council carried out archaeological excavation, consolidation, restoration, and museumization work on the ruins of three of these windmills: Castaño, Paletas, and Burillo. Their restoration and enhancement were essential to safeguard their multiple values—historical, archaeological, cultural identity, socio-cultural, aesthetic, and landscape—and to present to the public the material reality of the windmills in the region of La Mancha, without alterations or later modifications. This 3D model represents the ruins of the Paletas windmill in its original state before restoration. In the mid-18th century, it belonged to the convent of Franciscan nuns of La Concepción in Alcázar de San Juan and was leased to a resident of Quero. 3D model made in Reality Capture using 957 drone-based images.
