Biography

Possibly born in Breda and likely trained by Pieter Coecke van Aelst. Bruegel is considered one of the greatest artists in 16th-century northern Europe. His work, mainly landscapes, scenes of peasant life and allegory, is a blend of religion, folklore, and humanism. The influence of his work was widespread and long-lasting.
