About Artheon

A free educational platform for exploring Fine Art in virtual environments

Artheon Virtual Museum

Our Mission

We believe that free access to works of art and culture is a prerequisite for developing a humane, free and happy society. It is one of the essential tools for self-knowledge and self-improvement of every person.

For the first time, we can see paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts located on the other side of the world because of virtual reality technologies - in storage, in exposition, or maybe even lost - precisely as they are - in volume, in full size, and in colors.

It is essential to ensure access to objects of art and culture for children, youth, the disabled, and the elderly - for all those who find it difficult or impossible to take expensive, sometimes impossible journeys to other cities and countries.

That's why Artheon is and will be completely free for visitors.

Our Values

Open Access

We support the international Open Access initiative, making art accessible to everyone regardless of location or background.

Inclusivity

Art should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability, financial means, or geographic location.

Education

We're committed to making Artheon one of the finest educational platforms for teaching about Fine Arts.

What We Do

From VR to Web: Making Art More Accessible

Artheon began in 2017 as a virtual reality museum, pioneering immersive art experiences. While VR offered incredible depth, we realized that true accessibility meant reaching everyone—not just those with VR headsets.

Today, Artheon is a web-first platform combining collections from museums worldwide that embrace Open Access. Anyone with a browser can explore hundreds of thousands of artworks from their home, school, library, or anywhere with internet access.

This pivot to the web has proven more democratic and inclusive—no expensive hardware required, just curiosity and an internet connection. The web brings art to more people, more quickly, breaking down the barriers that VR inadvertently created.

Web-based Museum Experience

Museum Collaboration & Open Access

We partner with museums, cultural institutions, and Open Access initiatives worldwide. Our web platform aggregates collections from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rijksmuseum, National Gallery of Art, and many others—making them searchable, explorable, and accessible in ways individual museum websites cannot.

We invite collaboration from museums, collectors, and art educators who share our vision. Together, we're building a digital commons for art—where knowledge is free, access is universal, and cultural heritage belongs to everyone.

Museum Collaboration

How is this different from individual museum websites?

Artheon aggregates collections from multiple museums worldwide into one searchable platform. Instead of visiting dozens of museum websites separately, you can search across hundreds of thousands of artworks from the Met, Rijksmuseum, NGA, and more—all in one place. We make it easier to discover connections between artworks across institutions, create your own curated exhibitions, and explore art history without boundaries.

Who is Artheon for?

Artheon's mission is to make art closer and more accessible for everyone. For those who don't have a museum nearby. For those who can't travel to museums. And for lovers of museums and exhibitions who appreciate art but can't visit museums right now for various reasons.
