Biography
An outstanding sculptor of King Louis XIV's reign who was more classical and restrained than his contemporary, Coysevox. Much of his work was for Versailles, including his famous 'Apollo Tended by the Nymphs.' His equestrian statue of Louis XIV was destroyed during the French Revolution. His wife, Catherine Duchemin, was a flower painter. Comment on works: Mythology
