About Hans Sebald Beham

1500–1550Free Imperial City of NurembergGermany

Sebald Beham (1500–1550) was a German painter and printmaker born in Nuremberg, renowned for his extraordinarily prolific output of miniature engravings. Often referred to as Hans Sebald Beham, though he signed his works simply as Sebald Beham, he stands as the most important figure among the Kleinmeister, or Little Masters, a group of German artists who created remarkably detailed prints on a diminutive scale in the generation following Albrecht Dürer.
