About Gerard Seghers

1591–1651Habsburg Netherlands

Younger brother of Daniel Seghers, Gerard Seghers was a pupil in 1603, probably of Hent van Balen and Abr. Janssens, and became a master in 1608. He went to Italy and then worked for several years in Madrid for Philip II. He returned to Antwerp. He may have visited England. Comment on works: Mythology; Religious.
