About Claes van Beresteyn

1629–1684 • Dutch Republic

Amateur artist from a ruling-class family in Haarlem; his etchings were profoundly influenced by Jacob van Ruisdael. His only signed painting depicts his brother-in-law, Pieter Cornelisz. Verbeeck, leaning over a grey horse. Comment on works: Landscapes
