About Adriaen van Stalbemt

1580–1662Habsburg Netherlands

Born into a Protestant family. He went to Middleburg after the surrender of Antwerp and returned to the city in 1610. He became a teacher of art the same year and in 1613 married Barbara Verdelft. Van Stalbemt was senior member of the guild in 1617 and from 1632 to 1633. Van Stalbemt painted landscapes in the style of Brueghel and also produced landscape etchings.
