Feuerbach, Anselm Friedrich

Painter who wanted to preach a humanistic philosophy through his work, typically of Greek antique subjects. His most celebrated work is "The Symposium" (1869) but his portraits of Nanna Risi, his model and mistress, are now considered his best work.
