The Master of Alkmaar is named after the altarpiece of the Seven Works of Mercy painted in 1504 for the church of St. Lawrence in Alkmaar (currently in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam). Cornelis Buys the Elder is generally identified as the Master of Alkmaar, although the identification remains somewhat tentative. Comment on works: Religious
