Canto negenendertig uit 'Ariosto Furioso'. Vijf ridders houden Ariosto in bedwang die vastgebonden op een omgekeerde boot ligt. Astolfus houdt Ariosto een fles onder zijn neus waarin zijn verstand bewaard wordt. Zodra hij de inhoud heeft opgesnoven komt hij weer bij zinnen.

Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki (1726–1801) was a German painter and printmaker of Polish-Huguenot descent who became the most celebrated graphic artist in 18th-century Germany.
