About this artwork
As the 19th century progressed, embroidered wool bedcovers became unfashionable, and there was a noticeable decline in their production. Jacquard woven coverlets and quilts made with commercially produced textiles and stylish imported textiles replaced the once-popular wool embroidered bedcovers.
