Adolphe Lalauze · 1838–1905
Adolphe Lalauze (1838-1906) was a prolific French etcher and illustrator who made illustrations for many of the most important literary publications of the late nineteenth century. Born in Rive-de-Gier, Loire, on October 8, 1838, he studied at the Ecole des beaux-arts in Toulouse under the engraver Leon Gaucherel, who encouraged him to pursue a career in printmaking rather than painting.
