Engelse vrouw van stand, een zwart stoffen maskertje voor het gezicht en een grote bontmof in de linkerhand. Het bovenkleed is iets opgenomen zodat de rand van het onderkleed zichtbaar is. Om de schouders een brede kraag, afgezet met kant, in het midden bijeengehouden door een grote strik. Strik in het korte gekrulde haar. No 13. uit de serie Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus

Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) was a prolific Bohemian etcher who became one of the most accomplished printmakers of the seventeenth century. Born in Prague, he trained under Matthäus Merian in Frankfurt before entering the service of Thomas Howard, Earl of Arundel, in 1636.
