About Herman van Swanevelt

1590–1665Spanish Netherlands

Herman van Swanevelt was in Paris in 1623 and lived in Rome from 1629 to 1638. He studied under Claude Lorraine and took the name Eremita. In 1646 he was again in Paris, in 1649 in Woerden and in 1652 in Paris, where he became a member of the academy of fine arts the following year. Comment on works: Landscapes.
