Most Liverpool jugs featured black transfer printing, but this one utilizes polychromatic decoration. After the American Revolution, Liverpool became a regular port of call for American merchant vessels. The Liverpool packet depicted on this jug was a private schooner that likely traded between Liverpool and the United States.
