This chiaroscuro woodcut by Ugo da Carpi, created between 1502 and 1532, captures a rare personal glimpse of the celebrated Renaissance painter Raphael with his mistress. Measuring just 174 by 138 millimeters, the small print reflects da Carpi’s interest in intimate scenes from the lives of famous artists, rendered with remarkable delicacy.
