Art Historical Context

This hanging scroll, titled *Landscape*, was created by the Chinese artist Zhao Zuo during the Qing dynasty (1644–1911). Executed in ink on silk, the vertical format typical of hanging scrolls allows the composition to unfold gradually from misty peaks at the to detailed terrain below, inviting viewers to journey through the scene as if traveling through nature itself.
