Art Historical Context
In 1967, Trinidadian-British photographer Horace Ové captured a striking moment at London's Paddington Station: Michael, a charismatic Black Power activist also known as Michael Abdul Malik, alongside fellow members of the movement. Ové, a pioneer in documenting the Black British experience during the 1960s and 1970s, used his camera to chronicle the vibrancy and defiance of London's Caribbean communities amid rising racial tensions.
