About Giuseppe Castiglione

He was an Italian painter, architect and Jesuit lay brother, active in Portugal and China. Castiglione is the only Western artist to be included in the Chinese imperial collections. Castiglione entered the Society of Jesus in 1707 and trained in Genoa and Portugal.
