About Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof

1866–1924Kingdom of the Netherlands

Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof studied at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague and at the Rijkskunstnijverheidsschool and Rijksnormaalschool in Amsterdam. His woodcut design for a diploma for the Vereniging van Boekhandels and his decorations for the book Kunst en Samenleving are some of the earliest examples of Nieuwe Kunst (a movement Dijsselhof is considered to be an innovator of). Dijsselhof also designed furniture, wallpaper, embroidery patterns, and batik wall hangings. Comment on works: printmaker
