About André Giroux

1801–1879France

André Giroux was the son of Alphonse Giroux, a camera equipment supplier in Paris. Giroux was a painter and photographer who received the Légion d'Honneur in 1837. Giroux heavily retouched his paper and glass negatives, even scratching directly into the collodion emulsion on glass to achieve a painterly effect.
