This striking chiaroscuro woodcut, *Sheet 9: Julius in his horse-drawn chariot* from Andrea Andreani's 1599 series *The Triumph of Julius Caesar*, the grandeur of ancient Roman victory parades. Printed after designs by Andrea Mantegna published with Bernardo Malpizzi, it Caesar at the height of his glory, riding triumphantly amid horses, attendants, and ornate chariots. Measuring nearly 16 inches square, the sheet vividly recreates Mantegna's monumental painted cycle from the 1480s, commissioned for the Gonzaga court in Mantua, bringing classical antiquity to life for Renaissance audiences.
