In this etching, a wide river teems with small boats and figures poling or rowing across the water, while crowds gather along the left bank near a tall stone tower and clustered buildings. The right side shows the long, regular facade of a grand palace stretching into the distance, all rendered in fine, precise lines that capture the texture of stone, rippling water, and fluttering flags. Delicate clouds and tiny birds fill the sky above the scene, creating a lively yet orderly panorama of city life along the Seine. Jacques Callot created this print around 1630 as one of two large views of Paris.
