Canaletto’s *Warwick Castle* (1748) captures one of England’s most celebrated medieval strongholds from across the River Avon, its towers and battlements reflected in calm water. Painted during the Venetian master’s extended stay in Britain (1746–55), the canvas belongs to a series of English “views” he created for local patrons eager to own souvenirs of their own landscapes in the same sparkling style that had made him famous in Venice.
