This striking aquatint captures a sweeping view of West Point along the Hudson River, created in 1825 as the sixteenth plate in *The Hudson River Portfolio*. Irish-born artist William Guy Wall provided the original watercolor designs, which were translated into print by engraver John Hill and published by Henry J. Megarey. The work belongs to one of the earliest ambitious series of American landscape prints, celebrating the dramatic scenery of the Hudson Valley at a time when the young nation was discovering its own natural wonders.
