This exhibition presents thirty‑five works inspired by the timeless philosophy of Lao Tzu, reimagined through painterly abstraction. Each image is a meditation on the Tao — the Way — expressed in colour, texture, and form. The journey begins with stillness and silence, moves through conflict and detachment, and unfolds into harmony, unity, and transcendence.
Heavy impasto strokes, luminous glazes, and contemplative silhouettes transform philosophical ideas into tactile visual experiences. Eagles in flight, rivers of gold, mountains in mist, and the final vision of Lao Tzu upon the Black Ox invite viewers to walk through the stages of awakening. These works are not mere illustrations but living abstractions — each canvas a dialogue between pigment and spirit, between brokenness and renewal.
Visitors are invited to experience the Tao not as doctrine but as presence: a flow of consciousness where opposites dissolve, and wisdom emerges in silence. The exhibition is both a philosophical path and a visual journey, guiding the eye and the heart toward balance, freedom, and inner realisation.

This work presents two eagles in symbolic dialogue: one perched upon a broken branch, the other soaring into the vast sky. The grounded eagle embodies the weight of fear and limitation, while the soaring eagle represents release into freedom and awakening. The broken branch is not defeat but the moment of rupture that allows transcendence. In Lao Tzu’s philosophy, liberation begins when one lets go of attachment and rises into the Tao. The composition, with its impasto textures and radiant palette, becomes a meditation on courage, duality, and the eternal flight of the spirit.
Tao — The Way unfolds as a contemplative vision of spiritual passage and awakening. A golden river winds through shadowed mountains toward a radiant horizon, symbolising the Tao as the natural path of harmony and effortless alignment. The impasto texture transforms landscape into philosophy – each stroke a movement of energy flowing without resistance. Deep indigo and ash-grey tones evoke mystery and endurance, while the luminous gold suggests enlightenment emerging from silence. The solitary tree upon the ridge stands as witness to impermanence and strength. In this meditative abstraction, the path is not merely travelled; it is inwardly realised as the quiet unfolding of being itself.
Wu Wei — Effortless Action embodies the Taoist principle of natural flow and unforced harmony. The painting’s sweeping strokes of crimson, ultramarine, jade, and white move like wind and water — spontaneous yet balanced. Each gesture arises without struggle, merging intention and surrender into one rhythm. The impasto texture gives the colours tactile vitality, while their interwoven motion evokes the unity of opposites: strength within softness, calm within energy. This abstraction transforms Lao Tzu’s wisdom into pure visual movement — a meditation on how true power emerges when the artist, the brush, and the universe act as one.
