Allegorie op de Kunsten. De personificatie van Schilderkunst staand voor een schilderij op een voetstuk, rechts zit Muziek. Linksonder spelen twee putti met een masker. Uit een reeks van vijf allegorieën (SK-A-4174/4178), geschilderd in grisaille tussen 1675 en 1683 voor het huis 'Messina' van Philips de Flines aan de Herengracht.

Gerard de Lairesse (1641–1711) was a leading figure of the Dutch Golden Age, renowned as both a painter and art theorist whose classical ideals bridged the dramatic realism of Rembrandt with the refined elegance of French academism.
