This remarkable calligraphic album, attributed to Tang dynasty master Zhong Shaojing, preserves the "Lingfei Jing" (Classic of Spiritual Flight), a Daoist scripture written in exquisite small regular script around 738 CE during the Kaiyuan reign period. Zhong Shaojing (680-730s), nicknamed "Xiao Zhong" (Little Zhong) to distinguish him from his ancestor, the celebrated calligrapher Zhong Yao, was renowned for calligraphy that Song dynasty critic Mi Fu praised as "round and vigorous."
