This gilded copper alloy figure of the Crucified Christ was created by an unknown Italian artist in the second half of the fourteenth century. Measuring just over eight inches tall, the small-scale metalwork was likely designed as a devotional object for private prayer or as an element within a larger altarpiece or processional cross.
