About Jan Frans van Bloemen

1662–1749Habsburg Netherlands

Was the brother of Pieter and Norbert van Bloemen, and the pupil of Antoni Goubau. Shortly after 1681 he went to Rome. It is believed that he derived the name Orizzonte from the importance he gave to the backgrounds in his pictures. Comment on works: Landscapes; Views.
