About this artwork

Raja Bikramaditya is dressed in the popular fashion of Pahari kings of the 1600s. Kandala’s corpse is supported by three women who rush to attend to her. She is wrapped in pure white, as is the custom in India. The scene is set at night with a star-studded sky.
