Rechts zit de Romeinse keizer Nero op zijn troon. Voor hem de heiligen Petrus en Paulus. Terwijl een soldaat op het punt staat om Paulus te onthoofden, grijpt een andere soldaat Petrus bij zijn baard. Verscheidene omstanders kijken toe en in de lucht vliegt een engel. Achter de troon van Nero een sculptuur van Jupiter met adelaar.
