About this artwork

Amanda Elias Goodin, born in 1820, was the wife of William Francis Goodin, and the mother of six children. In 1941 the Goodins’ granddaughter, Isophene Goodin Bailhache, composed a family history to replace one that had burned during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Bailhache was very close to her grandmother and said that she was proud to have been related to Amanda, who “had the reputation in the family of being a most wonderful character and a very brilliant woman.” Conservation of th...
