About this artwork
The Van Santvoort family of Albany, New York, founded the Hudson River Day Line in 1828, a steamship company that provided transportation along the Hudson River between New York City and upstate New York. The steamboat Robert Fulton made its last run on this line in 1948. We do not yet know anything about the young Mrs. Abraham van Santvoort shown in this miniature.
