This etching by Jean Moyreau forms part of the celebrated Recueil Jullienne, a monumental series of 271 prints reproducing paintings by Antoine Watteau. Coordinated by the collector Jean de Jullienne and published in Paris between 1726 and 1735, the project preserved and widely circulated Watteau’s elegant fêtes galantes—scenes of graceful figures in idyllic landscapes—after the artist’s death in 1721.
