Engelse vrouw met op het sluik vallende haar een hoed met taps toelopende rechte bol, hoedband en brede rand. Brede dikke plooikraag om de hals. Onder de plooikraag een halsdoek afgezet met kant, in het midden bijeengehouden door een strik. Over de donkere japon een lang wit schort met links in de taille een strik. Mouwen met manchetten van kant. De rok valt tot op de schoenen. No. 20 uit de serie Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus.

Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) was a prolific Bohemian etcher who became one of the most accomplished printmakers of the seventeenth century. Born in Prague, he trained under Matthäus Merian in Frankfurt before entering the service of Thomas Howard, Earl of Arundel, in 1636.
