Art Historical Context

This delicate porcelain plate, created around 1751 by an anonymous, celebrates the heraldic arms of the Dutch Van Rheden family. Measuring just 2.4 cm high and 22.9 cm in diameter, it features vibrant coat of arms on the central well: a crowned eagle on a golden ground above a blue-ground shell from which two pilgrim st emerge.
