About this artwork
Landscape sketch showing a view of the rocky, craggy coastline of Grand Manan Island in Canada. The immediate foreground is comprised of rippling ocean surf that extends into the middle distance, where a tall, rocky promontory rises at right, surrounded by numerous geometric basalt columns. These forms descend toward the center, where waves crash against semi-submerged rocks. The sky above is clear and imbued with a warm tone, due to the brick-colored ground used by the artist.
