About this artwork
Pissarro first worked in lithography in 1874 but, after a dozen attempts, abandoned the medium until 1894. Then, within the space of a few years, he executed about 50 examples. These lithographs record a variety of subjects, including scenes of Rouen and Paris. The artist's bold, quickly drawn lines capture the energy and bustle of these cities.
