About this artwork

Intaglio print of a river scene in Venice, Italy. In the forground on the water rests a singe row boat. Beyond it on the shore is a larger vessel which is surrounded by men. In the middle a large wall rises above the shoreline, and the view through a two-story arch reveals buildings and more people. On both sides of the arch are windows with shutters and on the right, a large balcony, from which clothing is hung on a line.
