Pellegrino Tibaldi created this delicate drawing of a Standing Prophet or Apostle around 1545–50, during the height of the Mannerist period in Italy. As a young artist active in Bologna and Rome, Tibaldi often produced such studies as preparation for larger frescoes or altarpieces destined for churches.
