Antoine Watteau (1684–1721) was a leading French artist of the early eighteenth century whose graceful figure studies helped define the emerging Rococo style. “Study of a Woman,” presented here as a print dated 1734, likely reproduces one of his sensitive drawings of the female form. Although Watteau died more than a decade earlier, the later publication date underscores the lasting demand for his elegant, observational work.
