Like Wolf Traut, Springinklee was a pupil of Albrecht Dürer and remained in Nuremberg. Springinklee worked closely with Dürer and through him became involved with print projects to glorify Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian. Maximilian believed that large woodcut projects would be a cheap and effective way to ensure he would not be forgotten.
