About this artwork
This is one of three panels of silk netting that would have been cut out and sewn into a gown. This section was for a sleeve. The airy fabric is embroidered in gold, white, blues, pinks, and violets with designs of phoenix birds, chrysanthemums, and symbols of longevity.
