About this artwork
In the foreground are ruins of a classical temple - a broken column and a pedestal. Stairs lead up to a sepulchral monument and to an altar where a sacrifice is being conducted. In the distance are two free-standing monumental columns as well as a truncated pyramid crowned by a circular temple. The sheet is enlarged at the bottom and slightly laterally by an L.L. who signed the original drawing.
