About this artwork

The Majorelle family operated a large furniture making business at Nancy in eastern France. There they produced distinguished furniture in the Art Nouveau style. That style is well illustrated in the curvilinear, abstract wood marquetry (an inlaid, veneered pattern) on the doors of this cabinet.
