Zu Füßen der thronenden Muttergottes mit dem Jesuskind kniet am rechten unteren Bildrand ein Stifter. Es handelt es sich um Johannes Hinderkircher, der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts als Domherr und Propst von Gurk wirkt. In dieser Funktion gibt er ein monumentales Fastentuch in Auftrag, das der Künstler Konrad von Friesach 1458 vollendet und selbstbewusst signiert.
