About Wenceslaus Hollar

1607–1677Germany

Wenceslaus Hollar (1607–1677) was a Bohemian etcher and printmaker who became one of the most prolific and technically accomplished graphic artists of the seventeenth century. Born in Prague on July 23, 1607, Hollar spent much of his working life in England, where he created an invaluable visual record of seventeenth-century life that continues to inform our understanding of the period.
