Art Historical Context
This architectural print, titled *Elevation d'une maison de 7 toises de face*, was created around 1775 by French artist Juste-François Boucher (1736–1782). The title translates as “Elevation of a House with a Seven-Toise Facade,” presenting a precise front view of a residence whose width is given in the traditional French unit of the toise (roughly six and a half feet). Such measured drawings were essential tools for architects and clients in the eighteenth century.
